[Updated April 23, 2021] Free announced last December the arrival of Disney+ on its Freeboxes. The streaming service with big ears is now available directly on channel 132 of the TV Free by OQEE package of Player Pop, the decoder available with Freebox Pop and Freebox Delta. And to celebrate, both old and new customers have a bonus: 6 months of free subscriptions, without commitment (then 6.99 euros per month). An offer which is however reserved for Free users who were not already Disney+ subscribers... Now, and this is the novelty for this month of April: Disney+ is also free for six months for Freebox Mini 4K subscribers.

To benefit from it, the operator's subscribers must subscribe to the option on their Freebox customer area or via channel 132 of their decoder.

Finally, for subscribers to other Free Internet offers - Freebox Crystal, Freebox Revolution, Freebox One or Freebox Delta without a Pop player, Disney+ remains accessible only via a direct subscription to Disney+. With a novelty from February 23, 2021: the arrival of STAR, a new section bringing together more than 1,000 new "adult" content from the 20th Century, ABC Studios, Searchlight, FX and Fox Television catalogs. But also a price increase: 8.99 euros per month instead of 6.99.

Finally, let's also remember that Free subscribers can access Disney+ as part of the Canal+ offer with Disney+ and Netflix from 25 euros per month.

Disney+ at Free: direct access on Freebox Pop and Mini 4K

The operator now has three offers allowing direct access to Disney+ on his TV: Freebox Pop, Freebox Delta with Player Pop, and Freebox Mini 4K. These allow access to the streaming service directly via the Free TV package or the Disney+ application. No need, therefore, to look for direct access to the platform on the operator's other decoders delivered with the Freebox Revolution, Freebox One or Freebox Delta with Free / Devialet player: they do not exist. This may change in the future if Free finds an agreement with Canal+, holder of exclusive Disney TV distribution rights for France. But we're not there.

1- Where to find Disney+ on Freebox?

How to get Disney+ on Freebox (with 6 months free if possible)?

Until mid-December 2020, the Freebox Pop, Freebox Mini 4K and Delta + Pop allowed you to have Disney+ via the application available in the Google Play Store. But now, this application is directly available in the TV interface of Fre. It is also possible to access the streaming service directly via channel 132 of the TV Free by OQEE package on the Pop decoder.

Note that customers of other Freebox offers can theoretically also benefit from access to Disney+ thanks to the Pop decoder, available as part of the Multi-TV option. It will still cost 4.99 euros more per month, but will allow you to benefit from Disney+ via the application installed from the Google Play Store.

2 - Disney+ on Free Player Pop or Mini 4K: how to subscribe?

The registration procedure for Disney+ now differs depending on the Freebox offer you have.

Whatever the subscription method, the price remains the same: 8.99 euros per month, without commitment, or 89.99 euros for a one-year subscription (i.e. two months saved).

3 - How is the Disney+ subscription billed at Free?

It all depends on your Freebox offer. For Mini 4K, Pop or Delta+ Pop subscribers, the Disney+ subscription is now taken out with Free, which means that it is the operator who bills the service. And it is also with him that the service will have to be terminated, in the Free subscriber area for example.

For other Freebox subscribers, subscription to Disney+ remains independent of the operator, and the amount will therefore be directly debited from the bank card used to subscribe to the streaming service. In the same way, the cancellation of your offer must be done within your Disney+ account, on the disneyplus.com site. This can occur at any time and will allow you to take advantage of the service on your Freebox decoder until the end of the month already paid.

Disney+ via Canal+ at Free: on TV, but not for everyone

To be able to watch Disney+, other Freebox subscribers can rely on an alternative solution: a subscription to Canal+. But not just any and not in any condition, especially if you want to watch Disney+ on your television.

1 - Free subscriber and Canal+: which offers give access to Disney+?

Holders of the rights to broadcast Disney programs in France, Canal+ has included access to the service for big ears in several of its offers, from 19.90 euros per month:

2 - How much do these offers cost with Disney+ included?

If you opt for one of these Canal offers, you will need to provide at least 24.90 euros per month in addition to your Free Internet subscription for the least expensive formula (Limited Series Disney+). And up to 89.90 for the Ultimate+ version. The good compromise remains the Ciné Séries + subscription, allowing access to Netflix, Disney +, OCS and many other cinema channels and series for 35.99 euros per month. In all cases, the first month is offered on a trial basis.

3 - How to activate Disney+ with Canal?

Have you subscribed to one of these Canal+ offers, perhaps via Free? Access to Disney+ is not automatic, however. You will first need to go to your Canal customer area. More precisely in the section "My account / My third-party accounts" where the activation of the service will be offered to you. Note that, to perform this operation, the use of the Chrome browser is recommended by the assistance of the encrypted channel.

4 - Can you have Disney+ on your Freebox with a Canal subscription?

There is indeed a Disney+ channel available on Freebox TV, in the Canal Universe. This is accessible from channel 16. But beware: it only broadcasts a selection of programs from the Disney platform, with two 4-hour loops per day. To access all the content of the service, two possibilities:

Free customers equipped with one of the other Canal decoders, such as Le Cube, will be able to access the entire service only by going through the MyCanal application. For them, as for Freebox subscribers excluding Mini 4K who hold the Disney + subscription, it remains to find how to enjoy it on their television. And for that, the possibilities are endless.

5 ways to have Disney+ on TV at Free

Even if your Free decoder does not allow you to enjoy these programs directly on TV, many options are available to you to simply get around this problem. And this both with the Disney + subscription and via MyCanal, thanks to the respective applications of the two services.

Via casting or screen sharing:

First family of solutions: those consisting of broadcasting content from a computer or smartphone to television. Either just the Disney+ app or the entire device screen.

It may not be pointless at this point to take stock of the smartphones, tablets and computers on which Disney + can run. As for Android terminals, it will be necessary to have a minimum version 5.0 Lollipop, while iPhones and iPads support the service from iOS 11.0, Amazon Fire tablets. On PC, the platform can work from Windows 7, with a Chrome (75 and +) or Firefox (68 and +) browser. Same thing on Mac, whose Safari browser will have to run in version 11+ at least, with OS 10.12 (Sierra) at least.

1 - How to cast Disney+?

The first solution is to project the content of the Disney+ application onto the television screen. From the terminals listed above, Freebox subscribers will be able to project the programs on their TV in several ways. Through, in particular, a Chromecast key or equipment integrating this device. For example, the Connect TV box offered by SFR since the launch of RMC Sport, which integrates the Chromecast Built-In functionality. On the Apple side, we can also rely on the AirPlay device, towards compatible equipment.

2 - Disney+ on TV thanks to screen sharing

Another option for watching Disney Plus content on TV for Free customers is to share all of what is displayed on the screen. phone or computer screen. And no longer the only content of the application as in cast.

3 - Disney+ via a multimedia box

Another set of solutions that will allow Free customers to benefit from Disney+ on their television: those involving additional equipment. For example an Android box like the Nvidia Shield or Mi Box, to name only the most popular. Devices running Android TV, where you can install the Disney application.

Let's also mention the Apple brand's dedicated equipment, the Apple TV. In this category, finally, we will not forget either the small Amazon Fire Stick and Roku TV keys to connect to your TV via HDMI.

4 - Disney Plus on connected TV

Several models of televisions connected to the Internet already integrate the Disney+ application. This is particularly the case with the most recent Samsung Smart TVs (2016 or later), or LG connected TVs, provided that they operate under WebOS 3.0. Sharp Aquos and Sony Bravia smart TVs run Android TV and are therefore naturally compatible, as are Philips Ambilight Smart TV models.

5 - Disney+ on console

Are you a Freebox subscriber but also have a PlayStation 4 or an Xbox One? The doors of the Disney house can also open to you without difficulty by installing the application from the store of your game machine.
