Huawei is not a newcomer to the foldable mobile device sector and has already released three in the past few years: The Mate X, the Mate Xs and the Mate X2, which is the most recent model launched in February. All of these devices are similar to the Samsung Galaxy Fold in that they are vertically folding devices that are the size of a small tablet when unfolded. Recently, however, Huawei started teasing a foldable phone that looks more like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip, and a shoot published by Ice Universe revealed what the device looks like.

The P50 Pocket is a competitor to the Galaxy Z Flip

The model, called Huawei P50 Pocket, is highlighted with Chinese actress and singer Guan Xiaotong. It looks quite large, from photos posted to the networks, with a circular external display that can show the time, notifications, and a view of what you're capturing with the camera if the phone is flipped over. It can also be used as a mirror to powder your nose for example.

Huawei is already showing off its foldable P50 Pocket

The P50 Pocket's external display sits right next to the camera, and its fingerprint reader sits around the edges of the device. The version shown in the session that took place at Harper's Bazaar is gold with a kind of plant pattern, but Huawei's teaser shows that it will also be offered in a silver variant with a plaid pattern. Huawei will officially unveil the P50 Pocket on December 23, we will obviously offer a debriefing. On the Apple side, an iPhone Fold does not seem to be the priority, rumors announcing it for 2023 or even 2024.
