Apple has just published iOS 14.5 beta 6 for developers, with a novelty concerning the management of the iPhone battery.Users will now have a tool to recalibrate the internal battery of the device when it does not work as expected.

A sometimes necessary calibration on the iPhone

The calibration tool appears in the iOS 14 code.5 seen by 9TO5MAC, and will appear for users who have a concern for battery performance. The code reveals an URL to an assistance article on the Apple website which is already online and which provides more details on this new feature.Apple expects the new battery recalibration tool to help users "correct inaccurate estimates of the battery status for certain users".For an unknown reason, this feature is only compatible with the iPhone 11, the iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro Max at the moment.

The company claims that the recalibration of the battery will occur during regular charging cycles and that this process can take a few weeks.Once the recalibration is completed, the percentage data of maximum capacity and maximum performance capacity will be updated in the Settings. In the event of calibration failure, a message will tell you to contact an Apple approved service provider which can replace the battery to restore complete performance and capacity.
