Security researcher Jose Rodriguez has a grudge against Apple. According to him, the brand did not compensate him fairly after the discovery of a major security problem. “Apple is giving up to $25,000 for issues like this. But for a more serious problem that I reported, I only got 5000 dollars "he explains on Twitter, while posting a new manipulation to bypass the lock screen of iOS 15, the latest version of the iPhone operating system.

In his video, the security researcher shows the manipulation to perform to bypass Face ID and the unlock code in order to access the Notes of an iPhone under iOS 15. Worse still, since it is possible to transfer this precious private data to another device! The principle consists in combining Siri with VoiceOver in order to escape the code.

Jose Rodriguez hopes that this threat will force Apple to stop "skimping on rewards", and push the brand to quickly fix the flaws discovered by security researchers. He also explains that Apple has never completely corrected the flaws that he had been able to communicate to them before. “Apple mitigated the risk, but did not fix the problem. And they never asked me if the fault had been corrected,” he says. It remains to be seen whether Apple will take this into account and fix this new security flaw in the next version of iOS 15. In any case, this does not make great publicity for this new version…
