On the iPadOS 15, still in beta, apps designed for iPhone can launch with the screen in landscape mode, with two black stripes on the sides. A good compromise that avoids having to change the orientation of your iPad as soon as you launch an iPhone application.

During its WWDC 2021, Apple presented many optimizations for its tablet, such as the possibility of controlling the iPad thanks to macOS Monterey, or the improvement of multitasking, without forgetting its new operating system, iPadOS 15.

There is however a feature on which the apple brand did not dwell, which could delight more than one. In iPadOS 15, apps designed for the iPhone will be able to rotate with the screen horizontally, in landscape mode.

Torticollis or portrait mode

Until now, wanting to use iPhone applications on an iPad could be a little painful, since the applications only worked in portrait mode. It was therefore necessary to rotate the screen. As long as you used a keyboard, if you didn't want to quickly suffer from a torticollis, you probably had to detach your iPad to put it back upright, which is not very practical.

From iPadOS 15, applications dedicated to the iPhone can therefore be launched in landscape mode. They will therefore rotate in the middle of the screen, with two black bands on the sides.

For the moment, only those who have installed the beta of iPadOS 15 can take advantage of it. But there is little chance that the functionality will disappear by the official release of the OS.
