Ken Pillonel, student in robotics engineering, amaze the internet last month with a wild hack which made it possible to place a functional USB-C port inside an iPhone X to obtain a fully functional USB-C iPhone.Today, Pillonel has published a much more detailed video showing how he managed to make this hack, as well as a github deposit containing technical details, CNC instructions and information on the personalized printed circuit that he designed forAnyone courageous enough to try to make a similar hack.
The 13-minute video shows the details of the modification of Pillonel, which is simple in theory: Combining a Lightning connection to USB-C in a garland to imitate a Correct USB port.
Video shows almost the entire development process.This is a whole course, since the prototypes of proof of concept, the retroconption of the Lightning connector (and finally, the retroconption of a false Lightning connector), the control of a personalized flexible circular card and the machining of thethe iPhone to adapt it to the USB-C connector physically larger.
The video also shows how difficult it was to insert the additional circuits, the card folding around the two sides of the Apple Tapic Engine to slip all the necessary components.
