Since September 2020, Honor had not presented new products in France. The Honor Band 6 that we are testing today gives us the pleasure of seeing the brand again in our beautiful country, with a new inexpensive but very practical connected bracelet. The differences with the Honor Band 5 are very numerous and notwithstanding the price which has increased, the functionalities are more extensive, the design reviewed and corrected, what great improvements on this Honor Band 6!

Design

The aesthetics of the connected bracelet have been completely revised. Now it's a bracelet with a screen in a rectangular format to which we are entitled. This screen, if it is wider than that of the predecessor, is also higher, allowing to display even more data. However, it is not an Honor Watch ES either. You could say it looks like it, but smaller and cheaper.

The Honor Band 6 also offers a button on the right, the one and only button on the bracelet! If other devices of the same type put several, Honor has made the choice of sobriety by putting only one and only one, which has all its usefulness. On the other side, we find the logo of the brand, engraved in the bracelet.

The Band 6 doesn't feel thick like other products. However, it remains quite thick in the reality of things. We are indeed approaching a total thickness of 1 cm. However, the shape given to the bracelet is pleasant and does not give this impression of thickness. It must be said that the battery must be housed, accompanied by the various sensors, the screen and its touch screen, which is thick enough to house.

As for the bracelet, the latter is made of silicone, all that is more simple. We appreciate the incalculable number of notches to put on the bracelet, however, the quality is not at the top of our expectations, quite the contrary. This is enough for a smartband around 50€, however.

Under the watch are various sensors, but also the electrodes for charging the bracelet. It connects using the 2-pin connector provided. The mains charger, on the other hand, is not supplied with the connected bracelet.

Honor Band 6 setup

To install the Honor Band 6 on your iPhone and make it compatible, you need to install the Huawei Health app. No dedicated Honor application yet because this Honor Band 6 was designed in partnership again with the former parent company Huawei. A new application for connecting Honor devices will most certainly be released soon on the AppStore.

To connect the Honor Band 6, you have to go to the Huawei Health application and this time, you don't need to download Huawei Mobile Services. However, the Huawei account is still essential and mandatory. Once this is done, you need to add a device, in the corresponding menu and select Band 6.

The device must be visible, but for this you must have activated Bluetooth on your smartphone. Pairing works with both an iPhone and an Android smartphone. Once the device is paired, it is possible to share your data with the Apple Health app. So everything will appear right in one place and the Band 6 collects data for you and your tracker in your iPhone.

If you wish, you can change the watch faces, as well as change the notification settings. By default, the base screen looks very good, so we left it as is.

Features

The Honor Band 6 allows you to alert you to certain applications. You can choose notifications in the bracelet configuration menu. For my part, I only left SMS and WeChat in order to speak with my contacts in France and China and not be disturbed by Messenger every 2 minutes.

As for the features of the bracelet, they are as follows:

We also have a “More” menu where you can find a lot of additional options such as:

But let's take a look at the sports features of this bracelet. The Honor Band 6 is above all a bracelet for athletes and those who like to move a little. So let's see what that gives.

The Honor Band 6 on a daily basis

Heart rate sensor

Regarding the heart rate sensor, the latter is relatively reliable. Be careful, if your heart rate exceeds 100 BPM at rest, start to worry. Personally, I'm around 75, but here the bracelet tends to indicate more. An update will certainly correct this reliability concern as it had already been the case before.

Recorded heart rate range is quite wide, but incorrect. Indeed, after having measured with another more reliable bracelet, my rhythm at rest is more around 70 BPM than 99!

Physical activity

To test this Honor Band 6, you have to move a little! Precisely, this bracelet will help you get into sport for those who oscillate between the PC and the TV. No need to go for a marathon or participate in the Olympic Games! A walk of an hour does the trick and is enough to properly use this Honor Band 6.

For my part, I went for a little walk in my countryside. Over half an hour of walking in total, my heart rate fluctuated around 99 BPM. It is a normal rhythm for a person who walks at a brisk pace, the main thing being to descend quickly once the physical effort is over. A classic walk for information is between 3 and 4 km/h.

In total, I will have taken 2200 steps, 1.5 km and burned a hundred kcal. However, there is a small counting discrepancy between the iPhone 12 Pro Max and the Honor Band 6. If the data is grouped together on Apple's Health application, it is not always accurate. The iPhone and the Honor Band 6 display different values, which is quite a shame. However, this is normal because you may have put on the Band 6 after taking the iPhone or walking with the Bench 6 and taking your iPhone after only. The difference is therefore normal, even if you have worn both at the same time.

Sleep analysis

The Honor Band 6 also measures sleep quality. Information about this is available in the Huawei Health app. As can be seen in these screenshots below, your sleep is much more complex than it seems. Between the phases of deep, light and paradoxical sleep, it happens to wake up at night without realizing it.

Here, I slept for 7h21, which is a lot for me. I woke up around 9 a.m. before falling back to sleep around 9 a.m. as well. Except that I got up before 10 a.m. and the bracelet indicates that I will have gotten up around 11 a.m. or noon .. On the other hand, for bedtime, it's fine.

Blood oxygenation

The oxygen concentration in the blood should be between 95% and 100% ideally. Here, the Honor Band 6 calculates it using its sensors. The latter can oscillate according to the periods of the day, it is not very serious. However, pay close attention to its level. For my part, when measuring, I was at 96%, where I also reached 99% at certain times of the day.

It is recommended to have more than 94% oxygen in the blood, otherwise your oxygenation level is considered poor. Below 90%, it starts to become seriously dangerous, so consult a specialist before stressing out, the Honor Band 6 is a bracelet that gives you a measurement. However, this measurement is not of professional quality as doctors' devices costing several hundred or even thousands of euros can do. It is not a wholesale medical device.

Stress level calculation

It is also possible with the Honor Band 6 to calculate your stress level. Namely that a level between 25 and 54 is considered normal. However, beyond that, it is better to do some exercises to relax. As with all metrics, the Honor Band 6 calculates your daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly stress level.

Autonomy of the Honor Band 6

The promise is interesting, 10 days of autonomy in normal use, 14 days in energy saving mode, like the Asus VivoWatch SP. It's not the 20 days promised by its predecessor, but that's not a big deal. After a day, we had lost about 11 to 12% by using it correctly and letting it do its measurements as well as vibrate when notifications arrive. The battery can last 9 days in normal mode and in energy saving, we are more around 1 and a half days / 13 days, unless you have no notifications.

The Honor Band 6 connects with a 2-pin, magnetic charger and recharges in less than an hour. a few minutes are already enough to go from 0% to 10%. It charges in well under 2 hours, but the big plus is that you won't need to charge it every night. Phew, that's always taken with the phone and Bluetooth headphones to recharge often.

Comfort

Not everyone will agree on that. However, you should know that for a connected bracelet to properly capture the data emitted by your body, it must be well attached to your wrist and not wander around. However, it should not be tightened too much either, at the risk of making it very unpleasant as you go.

The bracelet is made of plastic and silicone, which makes it elastic and easily bendable in all the senses. However, quad we tighten the bracelet too much, it quickly tends to be unpleasant. The small ring allows you to block the bracelet but is made of plastic, which is not very qualitative.

Honor Band 6 review: Opinion

For around fifty euros, this Honor Band 6 is pleasant and efficient. It offers many interesting features for a small bracelet like this. The screen has been reviewed and completely changed by Honor compared to its predecessor, the manufacturing as well and many other things, such as the various sensors present. It's still not an Apple Watch or anything, but nothing too serious considering the price we pay. Price which has also increased compared to the previous version, for good reason.

Honor Band 6: Reviews

The Honor Band 6 is a very good smartband for anyone who wants to track their activity and other health data. It is not designed for great athletes, whatever it may well adapt to, but that is not its primary vocation.
