Samsung is renewing its Smart Monitor this year, an "all-in-one" screen that aims to be the most complete in terms of features to meet everyone's needs.

While waiting for other possible announcements, Samsung has already unveiled three new references that will be added to its catalog of PC monitors for 2022. In addition to the very attractive Samsung Odyssey Neo G8, which promises to democratize the Mini -LED on PC, and the High Resolution Monitor S8 more oriented for professionals, it is the Smart Monitor M8 that caught our attention for its long list of features.

A screen that wants to do everything, or almost

Cloud gaming, magnetic camera, home automation, productivity, Smart TV: the Samsung Smart Monitor M8 wants to do everything and adds new features to its range. At first glance, there will be few changes from a technical point of view compared to the Smart Monitor M7 of 2021. The M8 will continue to use a 32-inch IPS panel in 4K definition and a 16:9 format. Samsung nevertheless mentions a much thinner design than the previous one with a thickness of only 11.4 mm, a notable change, since the M7 is almost four times thicker. The most interesting novelty, however, is the presence of a magnetic SlimFit camera that has the advantage of being mobile and easily attachable to the monitor for video calls. The strong point of such a monitor is to integrate various productivity and entertainment applications without the need for a PC. The camera can thus be used via Google Duo. Samsung nevertheless mentions the presence of other applications without naming them.

The Smart Monitor M8 intends to take a central place in the management of connected objects and now embeds SmartThings IoT Hub to manage and control home automation at home. Productivity is still the heart of this monitor's concept, however. Among the new features, we will find many web services such as Microsoft 365 within a hub called Workspace, in addition to the compatibilities already present on the M7 with DeX, AirPlay 2 or Remote PC.

The Smart Monitor M8 does not stop there! It still integrates the Tizen ecosystem controllable via a remote control, which is close to what is found on Samsung televisions, and this year adds a “Game Home” functionality. This will allow you to connect to different cloud gaming services. However, we don't have any additional details on this feature at this time, but the arrival of GeForce Now and Stadia on the brand's televisions are already setting the tone. Finally, Samsung has not yet mentioned the complete connections of its M8, we just know that it will be able to power a laptop via USB-C, up to 65 W.
